Dr. Winford focuses on how drones can be integrated into decision-making to improve natural resource stewardship. Working closely with land managers and producers, Eric develops drone-based methods for site assessment and evaluation. With training in ecology and geography, he integrates field and drone-based approaches to work across scales to understand the complex patterns and processes occurring in restoration projects. Eric currently has drone-based projects evaluating stream and meadow restoration and dormant-season grazing to reduce invasive grasses. He is actively working with producers and land managers to understand how drones could be employed more effectively in their work, whether that be herding livestock or applying herbicides.
