Drone Lidar Workshop

Learn how to pilot, plan missions, and collect data with the Drone Lab’s Yellowscan Surveyor Ultra lidar drone. As part of the USDA NIFA Equipment Grant that funded the purchase of the drone lidar system, we are offering training to prospective users who want to collect lidar data for their class projects, teaching, or research. This workshop will focus on the following:

  1. Setup of the drone lidar equipment (Freefly Astro drone, Yellowscan lidar, Emlid Reach RTK base station)
  2. Basic flight skills with the Freefly Astro and Pro Pilot controller
  3. Planning and executing lidar missions using Auterion Mission Control
  4. Downloading and verifying lidar and RTK-GNSS data
  5. Processing lidar data into point clouds
